Ruya Dubai- A Mediterranean Reverie
The newly opened Rüya at Grosenvor House Dubai is surely some kind of a Turkish dream. With its Mediterranean themed decor and an outdoor terrace overlooking the scintillating Dubai Marina you will wish for time to stand still. Executive chef Colin Clague, who most recently headed up Jean Georges Dubai and Qbara in the city, leads the Rüya kitchen. Read on to behold this tale of Turkish magic.
Name: Ruya Dubai
Location: Grosenvor House
Cuisine: Anatolian/ Turkish
Ideal for: A romantic dinner
What I ordered:
The menu is the art of the executive chef Colin Clague who has combined the soulful and delicious Anatolian classics with a contemporary twist. Here I lay down my plate for you.
Muhammara- This roasted red pepper was so authentic and the flavors were a melting canvas on the tongue. (Dhs 35)
Citir Kalamar- This crisp and tangy simit coated baby squid with avocado and spicy red pepper dip was crunchy and so delicious. A must try! (Dhs58)
Firin Pancar- AÂ beetroot salad which was light on the tummy and so fresh. The goat cheese was the perfect addition. (Dhs60)
Patlicanli Domates Salatasi (An Eggplant salad)- Not a big fan of this one. You can cast it aside. (Dhs55)
Zeytinyagli Ahtapot- I have to admit, this was my first time trying an octopus and it was pretty good. For a review I relied on the tastebuds of my partner who relished each bite of this grilled octopus which was served with borlotti beans and capers. Well, he definitely loved it! (Dhs70)
Rice- Cooked with spinach and herbs this pistachio pilaf rice was one of my absolute favourites. The best I have eaten, like, ever!. Also, the garnishing of fried onions stole my heart right away. This is a must order when dining at Rüya! (Dhs35)
Rangers Valley Grain Fed Beef- Do I need to say more than the fact that a perfectly grilled steak was topped with pistachio butter? Totally a meat lovers dream! (Dhs240)
Lamb Cutlets- This lamb was so soft and tender and the minted yoghurt added so much flavour to this dish. Highly recommend trying this one. (Dhs175)
Pan Fried Sea Bass- The sea bass gets a perfect score on the grill and loved the coating on top. (Dhs175)
Lahmacun- A type of Turkish flat bread topped with minced lamb meat vegetable and herbs. Loved it! (Dhs60)
Stamboul And Cikolata Ve Turk- The best part of the meal is the dessert, right? I tried two of them. The Stamboul was a creamy yoghurt with the perfect basil- strawberry combination. Without being bias I have to admit that second one, that is, the chocolate kibbeh with salted caramel was the best. Truly divine!
