During my hunt for unique cafes & restaurants, recently, I stumbled upon this new Belgian concept, Maison Mathis. With roots from the heart of Europe, this new spot has a very bistro feel to it. Their menu consists of European favourites, all with a twist. Do  you know what’s the best part? They have a midnight menu too!
Name: Maison Mathis
Location: Dusit Thani
Cuisine: European
Ideal for: Lazy breakfast and lunch or a casual dinner
What to order
-Tomato and Goat Cheese Salad: The cherry tomatoes were topped with basil, crouton and almond crusted warm goat cheese. It’s a must try!
-Spinach and Chicken Salad: Soft chunks of chicken tossed with spinach, mushroom, sesame seeds, parmesan flakes and a balsamic dressing. So fresh and delicious!
-Traditional Tarte Flambee: Originally served with veal bacon, this tarte was crisp and topped with Crème fraîche, white onions and thyme (mine was without veal). This looked just like a pizza but the flavor was so different and the ingredients so fresh.
-Pesto Farfalle: A classic pesto pasta but much lighter and better.
-Corn fed yellow baby chicken: I loved the flavour of this dish. It was so understated and different. The chicken was roasted with herbs, mustard, lemon, spices and served with grilled broccoli.
-Sea Bream with Provencal vegetables- The fish was fresh, soft and grilled to perfection. It was topped with vegetables, rosemary, red chillies and olive oil.
-Potato Gratin: This was just divine! The moment you take your first bite you just can’t stop. The gratin was creamy, soft, cheesy and has a crisp outer layer.
-Chocolate Pannacotta: Served at the right temperature, a little cold, this was so rich and creamy. A must try!
My experience
-I’m not the type to live on salads but after visiting this restaurant I definitely could. With such fresh ingredients the end product is bound to be perfect.
– I loved the fact that they had frosted wine glasses. It’s a small thing to notice but it just enhances your dining experience.
– Their menu is simple, classic, no drama and has a lot of variety. I was so happy to see that they have a 24 hour menu as well. It’s the best place to go to after a Thursday night party session.
– The interiors are very European, chic and the place has a very chilled out vibe. They also have an outdoor seating (perfect for the winters). The restaurant is right opposite the Nippon Bottle Company, so you can always step there for a drink before or after  dinner
-Their portions are a decent size, good enough for two people.
Service– The service was incredible! The food was served fast and the staff was very good with their recommendations, especially Suresh.
Bill for two: AED 450 approx (3 course meal)

I loved everything that I tried, mainly because of the quality and freshness of the ingredients. I would happily go back on a Friday to try out their lunch menu.
