How to mix prints

A big hello to all you lovely people!

Since this is my first fashion post, I thought of beginning with this season’s biggest trend and also a summer essential- MIXING PRINTS. Well, as fun as it may sound, sometimes, getting this look right maybe a little challenging. A lot of people wonder what kind of prints they should combine and how.

Here are a few tips to mix prints like a pro:

-Match colours not prints! Pick prints that share the same colour. To avoid chaos, only mix two prints.
-Start with pairing two same prints that differ in size and background colour. Eg: Use white stripes on black with black stripes on white.
-Choose one print to dominate and the other as an accent. I would totally avoid mixing two bold prints together as it can look quite garish. Also, use bold colours with neutral tones like grey, white, black etc.
-Treat stripes, houndstooth and polka dots as neutrals. These three blend with almost every print. When in doubt, use them.
-Break 2 prints by using a belt.
-You can incorporate prints also in the form of accessories like scarves, clutches, shoes, jacket.

Once you nail this trend, you will be able to use most of your clothes repeatedly without making them look the same. It’s a great way to reinvent the wardrobe without splurging those extra bucks.

HAPPY MIXING!
